Spurs coming to Bahamas

Luka-Modric-Tottenham-Hotspur-Chelsea-Premier_2039667Tom Purvis reports: Two major soccer events coming to the Bahamas News – Sports

There are two major soccer events coming to the Bahamas in May and June 2013. Both involve the English Premier League.

The first event which many of you will have read about in recent press releases is the visit of Tottham Hotspur who is a top premier league team in the United Kingdom. On May 23rd the new Nassau national stadium will be hosting a match between Jamaica and them.

tompurvisThe stadium cost thirty million dollars and it holds fifteen thousand seats. This will be the first match by an English Premier League side in the Bahamas so there is a lot of excitement for people who live here. All English Premier League games are broadcasted around the world so we normally have to watch the games on TV so being able to go and see a live match is really exciting. I have already got my tickets and cannot wait to see this live match.

This will do a lot of good things by promoting soccer in the Bahamas and adding European tourists to the Bahamas.

Tottenham Hotspur is a very well known team and they have a lot of international talent on their squad with players like Gareth Bale from Wales. He will be a deadly goal threat to the Jamaican national team as he is always looking for ways to score. The Jamaican national team is currently trying to qualify for the 2014 world cup in Brazil so this will be a good test for the Rasta Boyz before their game against Mexico.

tottenham-hotspur-wallpapers-1This year the Freeport Football Rugby Club is holding there 10th annual soccer camp from the 17th – 21st of June which is supported by the Barclays Premier League as well as the Football Association (FA).

Many children enjoy coming to the camp every year and have fun and enjoy learning new skills and improving on old ones as well. Kids come from family islands, from the States and from Canada. The camp always bring in FA coaches from the UK. They are full-time youth coaches and each come with a big reputation. This is the best reason to join but the camp also includes lunches for the kids and swimming.

The three FA coaches are John Scott, Scott Davies and Suzanne Smith.

John Scott is a Level 3 qualified coach and is also a Level 2 goalkeeping coach. Scott Davies is with the Manchester team and is a Level 2 qualified coach. Suzanne is a Level 3 qualified coach. For us to be able to learn from these three coaches is an amazing experience. Being in a small country every kid who is interested in playing soccer should go along to this camp as it is amazing.

Being in the Bahamas with two major England Premier League events is great. If I were you I would definitely purchase you tickets fast for the Tottanham Hotspur VS Jamaica match and register with the Freeport Football Rugby club for a space in their week long camp.
