St. George’s Anglican Church celebrated Christmas in a very traditional style with their Festival of nine Bible readings to compliment nine carols. Together they told the story of the Christ’s incarnation, beginning with the story of how Adam and Eve lost the life of paradise in the Garden of Eden, through the Old Testament’s promises of the coming Saviour, through to the Gospel narrative of the Birth in Bethlehem.

The service was well attended, and both the adult choir and childrens choir were in fine voice. The Congregation were in fine voice too as they all joined together for Once in Royal David’s City.

Next, the Oremule Family helped keep the true spirit of Christmas alight by lighting five “Candles
of Love.”
Two Members of the Sunday School, Dominque Owens and Samantha Smellie, read the First Lesson, taken from the Book of Genesis and describing Adam and Eve’s Fall in the Garden of Eden, and the Bible’s very first prophesy of the Messiah- the “Seed” who would crush the serpent’s head.
The Bible readings, by Yitzchak Conolly, Stephen Gay, Dorette Armstrong, Colin Wilson, Doreen Trickett, Marcia Atherley, Andrea Dilbert, and Reverend Mary Graham, each followed carols from the Congregation and choir.

The carols included many traditional favourites, such as ‘Come Thou Long Expected Jesus’, ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’, and ‘Silent Night’.

The choir sang a wide selection of different types of Christmas song, including ‘Mary did you Know?’ and ‘The Shepherd’s Cradle Song’.

There was also a lovely instrumental, from Gianeya Sanchez on the piano and Mary Ann Chase on the violin.

The Venerable Archdeacon Hollis Lynch blessed the congregation before the final carol, ‘Joy to the World’.
