St Kitts & Nevis PM Harris at his 15th Annual Help-a-Child Program: “I have the deepest respect for teachers.”
“I have the deepest respect for teachers,” Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said yesterday, Wednesday, October 17th, 2018, while delivering a touching tribute to teachers at the 15th Annual Help-a-Child Program Primary School Scholarship Award Ceremony. Pictured at top on the right is Prime Minister Harris’ former principal, Ms. Susanna Lee, whom he enlisted to assist in the presentation of awards.
Ms. Lee’s illustrious 40-year-plus career in education – of which 26 years were spent serving as a principal – has been memorialized with the Susanna Lee High School Scholarship award administered by the Social Security Board.
Encouraging teachers across St. Kitts and Nevis to give of their best in the classroom, and on the job in general, Prime Minister Harris said, “Teachers never know what will become of those who they teach – you never know.”
The $42,500.00 distributed yesterday now brings the total amount awarded to date under the Help-a-Child program to $294,000.00 and the total number of awardees to 588.
Help-a-Child, which was established to assist financially needy students, enlists the assistance of principals and teachers to identify candidates who demonstrate financial need.
The identification and selection process culminates annually with the Help-a-Child Program Primary School Scholarship Award Ceremony, which is a well-attended event that brings Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris’ kindness and generosity, as well as his Constituents’ high appreciation of him, to the fore.
