Star Clippers adds first cruises to Jamaica, Caymans
Tall ship cruise line Star Clippers plans its first sailings to Grand Cayman and Jamaica starting later this year.
The line says the 170-passenger Star Flyer will operate a 21-night voyage from Costa Rica to Barbados in November that includes a visit to Grand Cayman as well as Venezuela, Colombia and Panama. The trip includes a transit of the Panama Canal.
A second, shorter Star Flyer sailing through the Panama Canal also will include a stop in Grand Cayman.
As for Jamaica, Star Clippers says the Star Flyer will operate a nine-night Caribbean crossing departing from Montego Bay, Jamaica on March 31, 2014 that also includes a stop in Port Antonio, Jamaica. The trip includes calls in the Dominican Republic and British Virgin Islands and ends in St. Maarten.
The Star Flyer will spend most of the winter of 2013-2014 sailing seven-night round-trip sailings from St. Maarten. The line’s seven-night “Treasure Islands” itinerary out of the port includes calls at Anguilla, Virgin Gorda, Norman Island, Tortola, Jost van Dyke, St. Kitts and St. Barts. A second seven-night “Leeward Islands” itinerary includes visits to Nevis, Dominica, Iles de Saintes, Guadeloupe, Antigua and St. Barts.
A second Star Clippers ship, the 227-passenger Royal Clipper, also will be in the Caribbean for the winter of 2013-2014 sailing round-trip itineraries out of Barbados. The ship’s seven-night “Windward Islands” itinerary features calls at St. Lucia, Dominica, Antigua, St. Kitts, Iles des Saintes and Martinique. A second “Grenadine Islands” itinerary includes calls at the Grenadines, Grenada, Tobago Cays, St. Vincent, Bequia, Martinique and St. Lucia.
