Stay Alive campaign target bad driving – 181 violations
Since the launch of the RCIPS’ festive-road-safety-drive “Stay Alive” on 29th November 2013 which ends on 5th January 2014, forty seven(47) people have been arrested to date. Thirty two (32) of the forty seven were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol; the other fifteen were arrested for separate traffic offences such as, using mobile phone whilst driving, speeding and failing to wear seatbelt.
To date 181 traffic violations have been detected. 79 people have been prosecuted for using cell phone whilst driving, 60 people prosecuted for speeding and 24 people prosecuted for failing to wear seatbelt and 128 road traffic collisions reported.
