Stay safe this holiday season
On Monday GIS Spotlight gets you into holiday safety, ropes you into an exciting fundraiser and re-introduces the next generation of sailors.
The holiday season will be enjoyable for all if everyone adopts safe practices. With this in mind, we bring you Operation Christmas Cracker, the RCIPS’ holiday safety initiative this year aimed at keeping you safe in your homes, businesses, vehicles and boats.
Learn what actions officers will take to ensure that you focus on safety as you enjoy the holidays. Be aware that driving and speaking or texting on a hand-held cell phone are now against the law.
With a different theme for each of five weeks, Operation Christmas Cracker will focus this week on personal safety, especially for women. Get tips on how to remain safe.
Next we stop at Camana Bay for an annual fundraiser by law enforcement officers for special Olympians. Learn about the efforts put in each year to raise money for this worthy cause. Join in the excitement as teams heft a gleaming fire truck across the finish line in the shortest time possible. See who heaves in the trophy.
Lastly, we revisit the North Sound where young seafarers display their mettle in navigating sailboats. Discover why Sports Minister Mark Scotland endorses the programme that aims to ensure Cayman’s maritime heritage is not a forgotten tradition.
Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.
The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8.30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
