Steve Martin’s Caribbean home is on the market

Comic actor Steve Martin has put his Caribbean villa on the market for the princely sum of $10.5 million (£6.6 million), businessinsider.com reports.
Villa Au Soleil (Villa in the Sun) sits high up in the hillsides of popular Caribbean island, St Barts. In true superstar fashion, it offers a 180 degree panorama of the glistening Baie de St Jean (The Bay of St John’s), not to mention a two-tiered infinity pool and sun terraces.
The veteran comedian and filmmaker may have been in the business for decades, but Martin only bought the Villa Au Soleil in 2008, using it as a bolthole in which to get away from the madness of Hollywood. Despite this, locals claim he wasn’t a fleeting visitor who only happened by on a number of occasions, but instead became a familiar face on the island.
Despite being a relatively small island with a tiny population, St Barts has seen its fair share of celebrity visitors and residents. Among them have been – in recent years alone – Jon Bon Jovi, Kate Moss, Naomi Watts, Simon Cowell, Denzel Washington, Sir Paul McCartney, Jay-Z and Beyonce.
Speaking of the sale, Martin told telegraph.co.uk: “St Barts is one of my favourite places in the world.
“Myself and my family have had a fantastic few years at the villa. The views are second to none, and the sun deck, terraces and swimming pool have been a great retreat to come and relax between filming. We will be sad to say goodbye.”
