Stingray Swim Club Travels to Jamaica

Stingray Swim Club, Grand Cayman, 11 December 2012: Stingray Swim Club members travel to Kingston, Jamaica this weekend – December 14-16th – to compete in the 2012 Christmas Open Swimming Championships, taking place at the National Stadium Pool which is an 8-lane, 50m pool.

The 14 swimmer strong squad will compete in over 80 individual events, each with a specific, personal goal attached to it. Swimmers aim for a PB (Personal Best time) every time he or she swims; but at this meet the swimmers will also be chasing qualifying times for CARIFTA (Jamaica 2013) and the Island Games (Bermuda 2013).

With a mixture of CARIFTA experience and first appearances in a 50m pool, Stingray Swim Club Coach, Andy Copley, know there may be some nerves on deck … but he also knows that his swimmers are ready. “They have worked hard for this meet; have put in the time; pushed themselves and met the Club’s training requirment to be eligible. Now they get to compete, swim fast and have fun.”
