Story Time Tour with children’s authors and illustrators

This May, Books & Books launched a Story Time Tour that gives children the opportunity to meet the authors and illustrators of their favourite books in an effort to promote a love of reading among Cayman’s youth. The series kicked off with two fun-filled events featuring celebrated children’s author and illustrator team Katie and Jerry Davis and their heart-warming picture book, Little Chicken’s Big Day.

Now the Story Time Tour continues with two #1 New York Times bestselling children’s authors and illustrators. Join Loren Long at Story Time on Wednesday 14 September at 10:30am when he presents Otis and the Tornado, the highly anticipated follow up to his acclaimed picture book, Otis, about a friendly little tractor. Then meet Anna Dewdney when she shares the latest book in her beloved Llama Llama series, Llama Llama Home with Mama, at Story Time on Wednesday 28 September at 10:30am.

These free events will include a story reading, drawing demonstration, sing along and book signing. Both are recommended for children up to age 7.

A selection of books by Loren Long and Anna Dewdney are now available at Books & Books.

OTIS AND THE TORNADO

Otis and his farm friends are enjoying a summer’s day playing their favourite game, follow-the-leader. The bull, however, has no interest in playing and stays in his pen, where he delights in intimidating the other animals.

Suddenly the day turns frightening: the birds stop chirping, the wind picks up, and the sky turns dark and stormy. It’s a tornado! Otis rouses a game of follow-the-leader to get all of the farm animals safe and sound in the dried-up riverbanks of Mud Creek. But Otis hears a cry in the distance – it’s the bull, still locked in his pen! Quick as his tires will take him, Otis putt puff puttedy chuffs back to the farm to save the day.

This brand-new adventure is a perfect accompaniment to any Otis lover’s bookshelf and story time.

LLAMA LLAMA HOME WITH MAMA

Llama Llama, morning light.

Feeling yucky, just not right.

Down to breakfast.

Tiny sneeze.

Sniffle, snuffle.

Tissues, please!

Ah-choo! Uh-oh, Llama Llama’s nose is feeling tickly, his throat is feeling scratchy, and his head is feeling stuffy. Back to bed, no school today for Llama Llama! Instead, he’s home with Mama. By lunchtime, though, he’s beginning to feel a tiny bit better. But now someone else has the sneezes . . . Mama! And who will help her feel better? Why, Llama Llama, of course! Anna Dewdney’s fun-to-read rhymes are sure to help children and their parents get through those under-the-weather days.
