Striding towards a higher goal in the Cayman Islands
Top stepper in the 2016 “Every Step Counts” Pedometer Challenge, Ms Daphine Watson of the Department of Tourism, has been beyond impressive so far!
Any advice for other would-be high steppers during the Pedometer Challenge? “Setting a goal is the first step,” Daphine outlines. “Pick a target, strategise and stay focused,” she advises. “You can do it!”
She has been doing just that! With over 100,000 steps in just two days, she has raised the bar to some seemingly impossible levels for most. However, she says she was already on Fitbit challenges – that has participants from around the world. So she was in her stride!
Over the past four weeks, she has been raising the bar for herself daily because of this personal challenge. Last week, she reached 171,000 steps. Last night, she had set herself to complete 60,000 steps, which she did.
But all her activity is geared towards her set weight goal of losing a specific number of pounds before a set date. She has been working out mornings, afternoons during her lunch hours, and again in the evenings, for the bulk of her exercise – this time with members of a support system, who are “competitive”, she reveals.
For her, seeing the pounds steadily going down is a bigger motivation, she comments. But this also involves getting proper nutrition, something you should not forget, she adds.
So participants: set your own realistic target and go for it! You gain fitness with every ounce you lose!!
