Structural Integrity

Miss Lassie Architectural Conservation and Restoration 3 The week of Monday, 7 January, we begin GIS Spotlight’s 2013 broadcasts by sounding out the structure of an old Caymanian house and revisiting the start of a very special air-service to the Cayman Islands.

On the first stop, our continuing saga about the life and work of gifted visionary painter, Miss Lassie, explores the structure of her now-famous house, which dates back to the late 19th century.

Miss Lassie Architectural Conservation and Restoration 6Join us to learn first-hand the hard work that went into preserving its architecture. See what has been done to recreate its original beauty and renew its structural integrity.  Reconnect with this important element of Caymanian heritage, which is being maintained through the Mind’s Eye project for future generations.

After that, we swing by the airport where the country welcomes the inaugural flight by the American airline, Jet Blue, and its service linking the Cayman Islands to northeastern US destinations. Hear about the benefits to the tourism sector and the airline industry that the new service is expected to garner.

Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight showcases government services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme airs Mondays on CIGTV on Cable Channel 20 after 7 pm; and on Cayman27 at 8 pm on Mondays and 6 pm on Saturdays.
