Students bowled over by Caribbean cricket challenge
By Rob George From Worcester Observer
SPORTS-mad students from Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form have returned from a sports tour of Barbados.
A total of 20 students flew to the Caribbean island and spent eight days travelling around playing cricket and netball fixtures against local schools and clubs.
The netball team returned undefeated while the cricket team had a mixed time during a trip to remember for all.
Students also had the opportunity to do some sight-seeing and take in the Caribbean culture on offer.
The students have been busy fund-raising for two years to help pay for the trip and have been helping with car parking at Warriors, at New Road and on the school site.
They have also organised quizzes, cake sales, race nights and stalls at the Christmas Fayre.
MidWest Landscaping, Beauty by Tabitha, Schmersal Electronics, Parkinson Wright Solicitors, Rock Lobster Jewellery and Powick’s Four Seasons Restaurant all lent their support through kit sponsorship.
