Successful Collaboration at the 2025 Agriculture Show in the Cayman Islands: A Milestone in Food Security

The 2025 Cayman Islands Agriculture Show has begun!
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – March 7, 2025; The Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport, and Development (PAHITD) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 2025 Agriculture Show, held on Ash Wednesday, which attracted an estimated 12,000 attendees. This year’s event showcased the power of collaboration among stakeholders dedicated to enhancing food security in the Cayman Islands.
As the Department of Agriculture (DoA) continues to pioneer climate-smart and resilient agricultural practices, it presented an impressive booth that highlighted the Cayman Islands Government’s commitment to ensuring long-term sustainability and adaptability in agriculture amid environmental challenges.
This year, the show featured a diverse array of exhibits, including the iconic Jamaica Red Poll cattle, the latest advancements in modern agricultural techniques, and a vibrant display of local foods, plants, and high-quality bred animals. These exhibits emphasized the remarkable progress and innovations occurring within our local agricultural sector.
For 2025, the Cayman Islands Government, through the Ministry of PAHITD, had the honour of welcoming a delegation from the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, underscoring the importance of regional partnerships in addressing agricultural challenges and sharing best practices to achieve food security across the Caribbean. The delegation was led by the Honourable Jomo Campbell, Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources of the Bahamas.
The success of this year’s Agriculture Show reflects the strong partnerships forged among government agencies, local farmers, agro-processors, and the private sector.
The Ministry of PAHITD extends its gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to this wonderful celebration of our agricultural heritage. We acknowledge the Cayman Islands Agriculture Society and its stakeholders for their unwavering commitment to enhancing food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. We also wish to recognize our fruitful partnership with the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), which has fostered innovation in germplasm and other best practices in our local food security initiatives.
A special thank you goes to Her Excellency Mrs. Jane Owen for her steadfast support throughout the Agriculture Show. Finally, we express our appreciation to the dedicated farmers, agro-processors for their ongoing efforts to make the Cayman Islands a more food-secure nation.
Reflecting on the achievements of this year’s show, the Ministry looks forward to building upon this momentum as it continues to implement the the Cayman Islands Food and Nutrition Security Policy (CINSFP).
