Summer’s end prompts top Caribbean resort values
By Brian Major From Travel Pulse
With the summer ending and the fall season approaching, Caribbean destinations and travel suppliers are offering a variety of packages to lure vacationers south for one more warm weather adventure. Fortunately for travelers, Caribbean resorts frequently offer their very best vacation values during the late summer and fall.
This year is no different, as suppliers across the region are extending outstanding travel packages available. For example, the Turks & Caicos’ The Sands at Grace Bay is offering “Fourth Night Free” packages that can be combined with low-season rates starting at $195 per night. The offer applies to stays of four nights or more through Dec. 19, 2015.
Located on Providenciales’ Grace Bay Beach, the Sands at Grace Bay resort features an array of free amenities including watersports, bicycles and three swimming pools. Travelers will have increased air access to the Turks & Caicos as JetBlue Airways recently announced new daily nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport beginning in November, while United Airlines will offer new, seasonal service to Providenciales from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport beginning this December.
On Oct. 23, the Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino will celebrate its 25th anniversary, and the resort is celebrating the milestone with a 25-themed promotion featuring $25 room rates, spa discounts of 25 percent, and $2.50 breakfasts and cocktails.
The resort’s “Enjoy Something Extra On Us” program offers guests who book five-night stays during the anniversary timeframe a special $25 starting rate on October 23, a free room upgrade at check-in, a $50 resort credit/per night (totaling $250), a 25 percent discount at the resort’s ZoiA Spa, a $2.50 daily buffet breakfast for two, $2.50 “Aruba Ariba” cocktails at all resort bars and $25 match play coupons at the resort’s casino.
The Bahamas’ Grand Lucayan resort will debut Lighthouse Pointe, an all-inclusive wing, at the end of 2015. The new resort area will complement Grand Lucayan’s base a lá carte section. In honor of the launch, Grand Lucayan is offering guests introductory rates starting at $170 per person, per night, double occupancy, for stays from Dec. 12, 2015, through Jan. 3, 2016. The offer represents savings of up to 35 percent off standard rates.
Lighthouse Pointe will offer facilities including a Kids’ Club equipped with games, activities and arts and crafts. Newlyweds can opt for free beach wedding packages and couples can enjoy romantic dinners on the beach for a small charge. Vacationers will also have access to fitness classes, a spa and the resort’s yoga center. Lighthouse Pointe will also offer guests eight dining options, four of which will be exclusive to all-inclusive guests.
Standard rates for Lighthouse Pointe will start at $262 per person, per night, double occupancy and include all meals, beverages and premium brand alcohol; plus recreation, including golf, tennis, spa access and use of water sports and entertainment.
Several Bermuda properties are offering complimentary third, fourth or fifth nights to travelers who book stays of three nights or more by Nov. 25 under the “Stretch Your Summer” program. The offer applies to travel from August 24 to Nov. 25, 2015.
The participating resorts include Elbow Beach Bermuda, which is offering a fifth night free; the Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda and Grotto Bay Beach resorts, which are offering third free nights and The Reefs Resort & Club, which is offering a fifth free night between Aug. 24 and Oct. 18, and a fourth night free from Oct. 19 to Nov. 30.
The Dominican Republic’s Eden Roc at Cap Cana, a Relais & Chateaux boutique resort, is offering guests a complimentary night under its “Stay 4, Pay 3” and “Stay 7, Pay 5” packages. The special offers include daily breakfast, private transfers from Punta Cana International Airport, electric golf carts and access to the property’s private beach.
When booked by Aug. 31, the packages also include a “Discovery Package” featuring dinner for two with a menu designed by executive chef Gianluca Re Fraschini; a $100 spa credit to the luxurious Solaya Spa, and a choice of a round of golf at the resort’s Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, a Catamaran tour or an Iguabonia Cave expedition. Nightly rates start at $660.
