Tap into a wealth of knowledge on Fisheries and Aquaculture
An extensive array of knowledge and information products is available via the knowledge platforms and networks of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM). As the CRFM works to improve its knowledge management framework and systems, it is imperative to inform our stakeholders and partners of the body of resources that exist, and how you can make better use of them to meet your respective goals and objectives. The purpose of this newsletter is to encourage the sharing of information. We invite you to use the resources highlighted below. Write us back at [email protected] to share your feedback on your experiences. |
“Knowledge is an essential driver for sound, evidence-based decisions and policies and is critical for strengthening the region’s participation, representation, influence, and bargaining power in international dialogues and negotiations.”
CRFM Ministerial Council
Resolution No. MC 18 (23) of 2024
Our GOAL: To improve the CRFM’s overall knowledge management framework and systems, through a strengthened culture of knowledge sharing, to ensure greater access to the CRFM’s expansive knowledge base and to strengthen capacities for multi-sectoral collaboration, management, decisions, and policy formulation.
AVAILABLE DIGITAL TOOLS & PLATFORMS FOR INFORMATION SHARING
The CRFM, both on its own and through donor-funded projects, has developed an array of knowledge management platforms for collaboration and information sharing and transfer, and several of these are interlinked to direct and/or redirect stakeholders to a wealth of CRFM knowledge products.
1. Digital Aquaculture Library
This provides access to online aquaculture resources as well as a directory of aquaculture sector entities in our region. Users can submit new records to the registry.
2. Fisheries Food Safety Hub This is the central access point for food safety resources, such as guides and manuals, training videos, infographics, and policy documents. We also provide a listing of SPS testing facilities in our region. VIEW |
3. Industry Directory Access information on private fisheries establishments in CRFM Member States. Searches can be done for more than one country at a time. Add or update your establishment’s entry in this directory. VIEW |
4. Social Networks
We use several social media platforms to get information out and to connect with our stakeholders. If we are not already connected, please follow our platforms, and we will follow you back. Tag us to alert us of new posts on your platforms.

EXPLORE CRFM DOCUMENTS
The CRFM is redoubling its efforts to strengthen its knowledge base, especially as it pertains to scientific data and information, including those to be acquired from future surveys of Caribbean maritime spaces. The active support of decision-makers, policy makers and other government executives is needed to drive the uptake and application of both scientific and traditional knowledge generated through the efforts of the CRFM, in collaboration with its Member States and partners, to ensure evidence-based decisions and policies, as well as to strengthen the region’s participation, representation, influence, and bargaining power in international dialogues and negotiations.
CRFM Portal Resources
The CRFM Portal was established in 2019 with support from the Regional Track of the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) in the Caribbean. Initially, the CRFM Portal primarily contained data and information derived from the CRFM-led marine sub-component of the PPCR and from the Flyingfish Sub-Project implemented under the Caribbean Large Marine Ecosystem Plus (CLME+) Project. To enhance knowledge sharing and uptake, the Portal was later populated (during 2022/2023) with other project-based outputs, including those emanating from the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) Sanitary and PhytoSanitary (SPS) Measures Project, and its successor – the 11th EDF SPS Measures Project.
