The annual Taste of Cayman Food and Drink Festival will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. The island’s largest culinary event hosts over 45 restaurants and bars, 5,000 attendees and dishes out over 18,000 delicious portions of food.
Taste of Cayman is the Cayman Islands Tourism Association’s biggest annual fundraiser and is one
of the largest and longest running events on the island.
2018’s festival will see Cayman’s top restaurants, bars and other food vendors coming together at
the Festival Green, offering up samples of their dishes and drinks and competing for the coveted
title of Cayman’s Favorite Restaurant.
Highlights and features:
Taste of Cayman 2018 also includes the hotly contested Heavy Cake and Mixology competitions,
alongside live entertainment and the return of last year’s new elements, including the VIP area
and Kids’ area, and special culinary and drink experiences in the Experience Room:
. VIP Area
Last year, over 300 VIPs received welcome drinks, canapes, express entry, priority parking,
experience vouchers, 25 food and drink tickets and exclusive access to the air-conditioned VIP
hospitality tent. The VIP Area will be making a comeback this year, with tickets now on sale for
Kids Area
Taste of Cayman’s Kids Area will also be returning for 2018’s event. With activities to keep the
kids entertained, yummy snacks, foodie films and toys to purchase, the Kids Area ensures there’s
something for all the family.
Experience Room
Created for immersive and intimate experiences, the Experience Room allows you to get closer to
the action. An experience voucher entitles the user to attend one of the range of incredible
experiences, whether it’s a wine and cheese pairing, cupcake decorating lesson, or cocktail
masterclasses from the experts.
.All Things Cayman Area
The All Things Cayman area, sponsored by Island Heritage, does exactly what it says on the tin.
Home to the Chef Cook Off and the demo stage, where chefs and industry experts share their
knowledge with children and other audience members, who can also get hands on with the
cooking demonstrations.
The hotly contested Seven Fathoms Rum Challenge and the annual Heavy Cake competitions are
also held at the All Things Cayman area with the islands’ top mixologists going head to head with
overseas competitors and the best heavy cake makers competing for cash prizes.
.Yello Marketplace
A new addition to Taste of Cayman’s 2018 festival, the Yello Marketplace will serve up delicious
offerings from Smokies, as well as stalls with local famers showcasing their fresh, sustainable
produce for all.
Charity
Taste of Cayman Food and Drink Festival has announced that Cayman Islands Meals on Wheels
has been selected as the official charity. Every year, Taste of Cayman supports the local
community through a charity raffle. Funds raised by the raffle are split between the Cayman
Islands Tourism Association (CITA) and the charity of choice, this year being Meals on Wheels,
with the funds going towards supporting each organisation’s various activities.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 at participating outlets, at Meals on Wheels’ office on the
second floor at Trafalgar Place, as well as at the Festival on the night. The Grand Prize is a round-
trip airfare with Cayman Airways, accommodation and a pair of tickets to the South Beach Wine
and Food Festival in Miami, Florida.
The Seven Fathoms Rum Challenge
This international mixology competitions will make its return to the demo stage, with
international and local bartenders going head to head to create Cayman-inspired cocktails with
local rum, Seven Fathoms from Cayman Spirits. Winners from international rounds, including
New York, Miami and Tampa, will travel to Taste of Cayman to compete against local winners for
the coveted title of Taste of Cayman’s Mixologist of the Year 2018.
Entertainment
Following the success of last year’s enhanced stage, incredible local artists and international
talent will once again wow the crowds with an evening of live entertainment. Stay tuned for the

Taste of Cayman began in the late 80’s, when a small number of restaurants from the Cayman Islands Restaurant Association met in a field to compete in a Chili Cook Off.
