Teenagers arrested following Grand Cayman burglaries
Two teenagers – one aged 13 and the other 19 – have been arrested and are currently in police custody following two separate burglaries.
The first burglary was reported to police shortly before 2.00pm yesterday, when a man returned to his home in Andresen Road, West Bay to find his door had been forced open. The man discovered that a quantity of tools had been stolen from his house. Police responded and a number of stolen items were found nearby. A 13-year-old old West Bay boy was arrested later that day in connection with the incident. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in custody while enquiries continue.
In the second incident, a vigilant member of the public reported seeing a suspicious vehicle outside a vacant house in Old Robin Road North Side. On police arrival the car was still at the location and officers discovered that the house had been burgled. Several electrical items, which had been stolen from the house, were recovered from the car. Officers conducted a search of the area and a short time later arrested a 19-year-old male on suspicion of burglary. He also remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
