Tell the Indian Government to enforce animal protection laws!

Elephants Care2Target: Indian Government

Sponsored by: Chris Wolverton

Thousands of elephants in India are mistreated by their owners, who beat them and exploit them for money. Recently in Mumbai, a 54-year-old obese elephant, Bijlee, was forced to beg on the street as her owners ignored her injuries. She was found lying in pain with maggot-infested wounds. Tragically, she has passed away as a result of her abuse.

Inspired by Bijlee’s plight, residents have begun to complain to animal rights organizations about the mistreatment of other elephants. Unfortunately, policing of India’s strong animal rights laws has been lax. In one case a politician even tried to threaten a group for reporting their neighbor’s daily beating of elephants.

Abusing elephants is cruel and most of the citizens of India condemn this abuse. Please sign the petition to tell the Indian government to enforce animal protection laws!
