Experts from the Chocolate Scorecard Collective have surveyed over 50 major brands, including Nestlé, Ferrero, Tony’s Chocolonely and more,to help you understand which companies are rising to the challenge and which businesses are falling short. See how your favorite brands performed. Although the scorecard shows evidence of improvement across the industry, we’re alarmed and disappointed to see that major brands Mondelez (Cadbury, Milka, Toblerone), Unilever (Magnum, Wall’s, Ben & Jerry’s) and General Mills (Cheerios, Häagen-Dazs, Cocoa Puffs) failed to participate this year. This lack of transparency is simply not good enough from these multi-billion-dollar corporations that turn huge profits from chocolate products. Share your disappointment with them! Join us in calling on them to do better and share important information about how they are sourcing cocoa with civil society and their customers! |

We’re especially concerned by the fact that Mondelez continues to make false sustainability claims in its marketing materials (like those in the photo below!) while showing a lack of transparency when asked about its practices. |
We’re pleased to see Starbucks participate this year after we engaged with them directly on their lack of transparency last year, but their results show a real need for improvement across the board. Every year, the Chocolate Scorecard and the related campaigning give us hard proof that companies care about what consumers want. It’s so important that we use this power to push for better practices so that people in cocoa-farming communities can live safely and free from poverty and exploitation. Thank you once more for your commitment to tackling exploitation in the cocoa sector. Your voice makes a difference! Monica and the team supporting the Freedom United community |
