The butchering, botching, and bungling of logic, Martin

By Melissa Martin

What is the meaning of logic? 1) a proper or reasonable way of thinking about something: sound reasoning. 2) a science that deals with the rules and processes used in sound thinking and reasoning. Visit https://www.merriam-webster.com

What is up with absurd explanations, ludicrous clarifications, and farcical remarks? My brain is in a continual state of barfing when I watch or read the news. What motives hide beneath the blabbering, jabbering, and nattering of leaders?

A recent comment by Joe Biden’s new Press Secretary: “The Economy is in a better place than it has been historically.” Really? Inflation and an impending recession make a financially vigorous society. A recent poll from The Wall Street Journal shows that 83 percent of Americans believe the economy is “poor or not so good.” Please help my confused cerebrum understand. Or are we being gaslighted by nonsensical waffling?

Kamala Harris bungled logic when she went to France last year. “We must together. Work together. To see where we are. Where we are headed, where we are going and our vision for where we should be. But also see it as a moment to, yes. Together, address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment.” Huh?

Ben Carson, former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, stated “Illogical thinkers throw names and slurs around because they have no arguments with which to rebut their opponents. Rational people have to keep hammering their points home.” Obviously, Carson did not join the Washington D.C. illogical club or the political gaslighting group.

Kristalina Georgieva, Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently admitted the central banks globally “printed too much money and didn’t think of unintended consequences.” Oops! How did the well-educated and work-experienced Georgieva fool all those companies where she worked before? She is either incompetent or lying. Citizens, don’t swallow her asinine justification.

“Well, believe it or not, a recent study actually found that running late may actually be a positive trait,” reports a 2022 article at YourTango website. Really? It won’t feel so virtuous when the boss fires you. Did rationality just take the train out of town? Let’s all be late and be proud of it.

Klaus Schwab, Founder of the World Economic Forum proclaims, “You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy.” What? That’s downright preposterous – unless you are a fan of communism or fascism. Where’s the logic in owning nothing and allowing the government to own everything?

According to a 2022 article in The Washington Post, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, a self-described “trained Marxist,” is accused of hypocrisy for buying a $1.4 million compound in a predominantly White community. Really? Cullors hates capitalism, but loves what money can buy. That much wealth could have fed and housed lots of Black people in need.

Televangelists Mike Murdock, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, and Creflo Dollar fancy their private jets. And just why do they need more than one airplane and why such expensive ones? I can understand a busy evangelist owning one airplane at a reasonable cost, but is there a bigger and better aircraft competition going on amongst God’s servants? What’s the reasoning for owning a fleet of jets and expecting your followers to foot the bill? And some newspapers are gaslighting their way into censorship oblivion. Gannett, the mega media giant that owns hundreds of newspapers in the U.S., is downsizing its op-ed and editorial sections to counter public perceptions of political bias. In other words, who cares what’s important to citizens? No readers equal no newspapers.

So, it appears that wealth, power, and status have a tendency to interrupt critical thinking skills and interfere with logic and reasoning skills. Why do smart people say and do stupid things? And then try to justify illogical decisions or covert agendas with nonsensical rhetoric?

Do the bamboozlers of logic believe that average citizens are brainless? Or does greed heed their ability to use decision-making sense?

We’ve grown accustomed to the propaganda of politicians, the deceit of mainstream media, and the falsehoods of the fact-checkers, but the in-your-face buffoonery explanations/excuses of those in the limelight is insulting.

I guess it’s difficult for the players and performers dwelling in the butchering, botching, and bungling bubble of bamboozlement to find plausible explanations, so instead they sound like bumbling boobs.

People, the emperor has no clothes.
