The Cayman Islands Folk Singers kick off the season with a new sound

New Talents Join CIFS

GEORGE TOWN, 28th SEPTEMBER 2015 – The Cayman Islands Folk Singers (CIFS) recently held the first rehearsal of the season and welcomed seven new members to the group. “I’m happy to announce the addition of six talented new vocalists and a guitarist who is also very experienced in playing the harmonica which is a sound we have never had. It will be exciting to see how audiences receive the group’s new dynamic,” announced Robin Tayman, Musical Director.

On Tuesday, 21st September 2015 the thirty-member ensemble resumed weekly rehearsals to prepare for an impressive lineup of performances for the upcoming festive season. Lorna Bush, Manager of The Folk Singers added, “We are booked for a number of private events during this season but we are most excited that the public will have an opportunity to catch our performance at this year’s Pink Ladies Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, 28th November 2015 at the ARC in Camana Bay. We invite everyone to come out and experience the impact of the Folk Singers, which is truly an awesome spectacle. We are storytellers who sing well!”

unnamed-2The Cayman Islands Folk Singers have had notable public performances in the past, such as last year’s “Come Back Home Concert”which was deemed a huge success. Booking opportunities are still available for the remainder of 2015 for companies or individuals requiring a family-friendly, cultural and high-quality performance for any type event.

About the Cayman Islands Folk Singers
Formed by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation in 2009, the Cayman Islands Folk Singers’ purpose is to preserve and celebrate Cayman’s musical traditions. The company consists of a thirty-member vocal and musical ensemble that tells stories reflective of Caymanian heritage, all through high quality performances. Included in its repertoire are several songs by Cayman’s own “Aunt” Julia Hydes, as well as notable folk music from around the Caribbean region.
