The One Love Call to Action and Pledge supports Colly Fisher and her promotion of Pennsylvania’s Proclamation of Jamaica Independence Week to be officially recognize Aug. 5th – 10th as “Jamaica Independence Week”.

Below is Colly Fisher’s remarks: “Hello Ms. Sharon Parris-Chambers, let me first congratulate you on your commendable efforts, to promote market Jamaica’s rich culture and history… “The Governor of Pennsylvania is going to make a Proclamation of Jamaica Independence Week, from 5th – 10th of August. This means that from now on, the State of Pennsylvania will officially recognize Aug. 5th – 10th as “Jamaica Independence Week” so we need to kick of the first celebration in style. Hon. Portia Simpson – Miller is schedule to be here and we need some sound to come and celebrate this historic achievement.

For us to achieve a National Holiday to celebrate our history and culture, in the State of Pennsylvania I think it’s a commendable achievement, and a legacy to last us for a lifetime. We should all come together to make it symbolic and worth wile.

We would like to meet with all Jamaican Disc Jockeys / Sound System operator in the Philadelphia City, at Charley B’s tomorrow at 4:00 P.M. so we can come together properly organize this event. Kindly pass on the message, so more persons can come. Thank you for your kind co-operation. ”
