The Editor Speaks: A commendation to the CIHS
A sigh of relief from our government leaders?
The reason was I had a medical emergency, which I am not going into what it was, except to say I would have gladly thrown myself under a road roller just to end the pain I was in.
A sigh I didn’t actually act on this impulse from the government leaders?
As I am writing this today means I am well enough recovered to be able to put fingers to keyboard and get my poor brain in gear to actually write something coherent.
I must therefore give a huge thanks to all the staff at the Cayman Islands Government Hospital who put me out of my suffering with fast, efficient and the most caring service anyone could not have got better at a private hospital catering to the world’s wealthy and most important people.
I am only important in my eyes, but it was humbling to see how every patient that was critically ill was important to the staff. The doctors, the nurses, the aides and the orderlies were all so cheerful. They listened attentively to what any patient said without the ubiquitous nod you get from some of our other professionals who think we are a rung or two below them and are totting up how many dollars they have made from that nod.
When I had recovered enough to want to leave they made absolutely sure I was actually fit and put me through many tests with an even friendly Count Dracula who delighted at taking my blood with a huge smile.
One of my tests was having to drink many, many cups of liquid and the head nurse (that now knows every intimate detail of my private parts) even made me a hot cup of tea that was delicious.
Anyway 36 hours later I am back at my desk and I say a very big “THANK YOU”.
