How naive of me to expect something new and positive to come out of the Cayman Islands Football Association’s emergency Executive Committee meeting on Monday, 7 December 2015.

Instead they are “appalled by Minister Osbourne Bodden’s statements as published in the Cayman Compass issue of December 7, 2015 of not having received audited financial statements when in fact CIFA has consistently provided annual audited financial statements to his Ministry over the years.”

However, the last audit has never been completed and there is a problem with them. Why isn’t CIFA addressing that instead of being appalled?

How can CIFA say that the money not being provided by Government is suddenly going to damage youth football in this country when CIFA’s Acting President told us only a couple of months ago it didn’t matter at all they wouldn’t be receiving it.

Now it is a sudden change of tune and to try and get the country’s sympathy CIFA larches on to YOUTH football.

I am sorry but it doesn’t wash.

The country is fed up with the smell and taint that is pervading the way football is being run here in the Cayman Islands. The image has been tarnished by Jeff Webb and the conduct of the CIFA board has done nothing to win the confidence of the public.

The accounts, audited or not, explain absolutely nothing of how the money was spent. Large sums coming in and large sums going out and what do we see? Nothing to justify the investment.

“The Minister cannot dictate to any national association who should or should not serve on its executive committee by interfering in an election process which is determined by its membership” says CIFA.

When an election process was obviously ‘fixed’ to exclude any resemblance of a new broom Minister Bodden was absolutely right to register his alarm.

CIFA “has experienced many challenges resulting from recent events and from limited funding from local government and the private sector. We continue our efforts to develop youth football in the Cayman Islands” … oh la de da!

Are they really astonished no one wants to be associated with an organization that mimics its bigger brother and won’t leave the coup?

Minister Bodden has told CIFA repeatedly how to reform. And they still want a meeting with him because they still don’t understand.

CIFA Acting President. Resign along with the rest of you. That will help YOUTH football.

Or is there some other more sinister reason you don’t want a new board in place?
