It is nice to know that people care when they can’t login to iNews Cayman and send us emails to ask if we knew our website was down again.

Yes we did know and it has been a frustrating four days for us.

Early Friday (15) morning I was greeted with the words (like you were) every time I tried to get on or further into our website “”Error establishing a database connection”. What was worse for us is we couldn’t even get onto the WordPress portion of the site to load anything.

Our server kept going into “Rescue Mode” and I found I was drowning and not knowing what to do.

What seemed a fairly easy task to fix according to our two Internet specialists turned into a major project. According to both companies who worked on the problem our database looked like spaghetti!

What had happened was the first hit we took some weeks ago had in fact corrupted some files and after we had got back up these still corrupted files decided to spread their disease until our server said enough is enough we are shutting down!

I want to thank both companies, our wonderful local team at Wigglypen (Debbie Hand) and the USA firm The And Company (Lisa M Lake). They both worked tirelessly in cleaning out all the corrupted files and replacing them.

This technology is like an alien encounter to me.
