The Editor speaks: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a look at the roundabouts
Lit up once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in every store
But the purdy-est sight to see
Is the white sand and lights by your own front door
Apologies to Meredith Willson. – no relation hence the spelling!
It is a fact, though. We might have the grand lighting of the giant Christmas trees at Heroes Square and at Camana Bay, but the ones we nearly all see every evening when we drive, is the lighting on our main roundabouts.
Last year, my favorite (until a vehicle damaged some of it) was the Tomlinson Roundabout by the West/East Arterial Road-BoddenTown. This year the Cayman National Bank Roundabout near the Red Cross Building, Huldah Avenue/Elgin Avenue is my winner.
The major problem I have with the roundabout decorations is they are a dangerous distraction to the vehicular driver.
At busy roundabouts you really must have both eyes on the road.
However, when the roundabouts are lit up we do believe it is looking a lot like Christmas.
The two other events that begin to make it look a lot like Christmas are the wonderful garden delights outside the private homes of the Crighton’s on Shamrock Road and the Bodden Sisters’ on South Church Street.
Both gardens are just spectacular.
There are even now tour buses offering three hour long trips to view all of the decorative lights along our roadsides that adorn Grand Cayman.
Maybe there is something similar on the Sister Islands….?
They are all beautiful sights.
It most certainly is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
