The Editor Speaks: Mocking religious beliefs
It is now common place and acceptable to mock people who have religious faith, especially if you are a Christian.
The recent example by Joy Behar and Omarosa Manigault on the ABC show “The View” was appalling.
They mocked the power of prayer and Behar went one step further saying, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you … that’s called mental illness.”
Please see our story in today’s iNews Cayman titled “ABC flooded with 25k complaints after show mocked Pence’s faith”.
Pence is USA’s Vice President Mike Pence!
Only a few years ago Saturday Night Live thought it was so funny to do a skit claiming “God is gay“ and demeaning all persons of religious faith.
And to non-Christians it does seem OK to mock that particular faith. “Son of God”, “dying on a cross to save all of us”, “loving your enemies”, “bless those who curse you”, “do good to those who hate you”, and “pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
Satan is having a wonderful time. Satan doesn’t mind that people don’t even believe in him.
However, would these comedians poke fun of black people?
That would be a very different scenario now.
Yes, black people were made fun of and they did suffer terrible atrocities and thank God that has stopped for fear of being called a racist.
So now Christianity is the butt for jokes. With more and more people turning their backs on any religious faith, we can expect more and more of it.
Dexter Bodden survived a gunshot wound at point blank range and mocked anyone who said it was God saving him.
It was luck.
So the origin of life itself is just plain luck?
“Bare probability and large amounts of time, alone, cannot accomplish anything, ever. Period.” – Scott Youngren.
Finally, “Blind metaphysical necessity, which is certainly the same always and everywhere, could produce no variety of things. All that diversity of natural things which we find suited to different times and places could arise from nothing but the ideas and will of a Being, necessarily existing.” – Sir Isaac Newton.
Beware all of you who mock. You are doing Satan’s work and he really doesn’t want you to believe in him.
Continue your mocking of religious beliefs. I pray for you because I know where you are going to end up.
