With at least one UDP cabinet member publically stating he will be supporting Premier McKeeva Bush despite the three police investigations surrounding him, the opposition’s no confidence motion is doomed.

Health Minister Mark Scotland said that all of the UDP members of the LA would be voting against the motion and will not be asking the premier to step aside.

Of course, we in the media have to accept some of the blame.

“The continued carrying of this in the press [and by the opposition]” was where the damage was occurring, Scotland said on Rooster’s morning show, Cayman Crosstalk, on Friday (27).

Is Mr. Scotland saying then we shouldn’t report any news that could hurt Cayman’s reputation? This is what he said: “I believe the greatest damage is being done now by the continual coverage in the press in the negative way it is being done … and by the opposition who are perpetuating the coverage in the press.

“If there is any damage being done to Cayman’s reputation it is because of the continued press coverage.”

He also said the stories were being embellished accusing us of “speculation and rumour”.

Then he has the temerity to ask why it was that the investigation in Arden McLean and the accusations made by the premier about his CUC bills not being paid was resolved quickly?

So a disputed CUC bill is the same as THREE RCIPS enquiries into activities by the country’s PREMIER, two into financial irregularities and the third concerning an unlicensed shipment of dynamite?

Does he actually believe what he is saying?

The only thing I can agree with what he said is “The best thing in this instance is a speedy closure.
