The Editor speaks: So KAABOO goes down the LOO!
A ‘loo” in the UK is another name for a toilet..
I have to admit I am not surprised KAABOO 2020 is not going to happen.
We will also not know the TRUE reason or reasons why.
Does the word “corruption” spring into your mind?
Of course not.
The 019 festival held in February was “a roaring success”. It also produced “fantastic results”.
“The success of KAABOO Cayman in 2019 as a multi-day, premium music, art and comedy festival has established Cayman’s ability to deliver large-scale events at international standards.”
The press release we received from Jason Felts, KAABOO marketing officer, said the reason not to bring it back to Grand Cayman “was neither logistics or profitability”.
So the evemt last February was profitable, there was no problems with the logistsics and it was such a trememnous success there was immediately available blind-sale passes and corporate sponsorsips.
DART was “proud to have been part of KAABOO Cayman 2019, an event which showcased the Cayman Islands to the world and a venue on Seven Mile Beach that provided both visitors and residents with an unforgettable festival experience.”
WOW!
So everybody connected with it, including another partner, Richard Branson who continually raved about it, thought it was almost “heavenly”, apart from the angels singing and playing harps.
Wait.
Didn’t I see and hear someone playing a harp there?
However, the reason we are led to believe for no 2020 KABOO Cayman is the gobble-de-gook one.
“After careful deliberation, the partners behind KAABOO Cayman regret to announce that the event will not be returning to the Cayman Islands in 2020, as originally planned.”
And…
KAABOO will be returning its focus to its current and future planned US-based events, including the upcoming KAABOO Del Mar event in San Diego which is celebrating its 5th anniversary this coming September.
And..
“ It was merely a business decision made by the partners.”
That’s as clear as the real reason why our premier allowed CITN/Cayman27 to go dark.
Both have gone down the LOO. Do I hear a “BOO”?
Yes Sir, thank you for your commentary it should open the thought process of many Caymans.
