The Editor Speaks: Where were you when Ivan stopped by Cayman?
Where were you when Ivan stopped by Cayman on that September day?
Were you in your home with your wife and children?
Or had you left on a plane and gone to LA?
Did you stand there in shock at the noise of the wind?
Howling like 10 freight trains under a black sky
Did you shout out in terror as waters began to rise
Or did you fear for everyone and cry?
Did you weep for the families that lost their homes
And pray for our Island and people you didn’t know?
Did you rejoice for the death toll that was surprisingly low
And sob for the one that had died you know?
Did you go out when it was over and hug strangers in the road
Did you gasp at the destruction, the trees, light poles in shatters
And look at yourself and what really matters?
I’m just an Editor of simple ieyenews
I’m not a real journalist at all
I can read and write but I’ve no qualifications
I was a QS and used to multiplications
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest of all is love.
Where were you when Ivan stopped by Cayman on that September day?
Were you in a government shelter chock full of strangers
Or with family and friends frightened like me?
Did you feel guilty ’cause your damage was little
When people were crying did you feel their pain too?
Did you try calling loved ones on phones that didn’t work?
Did you dust off that Bible and it looked brand new?
Did you open your eyes, hope it never happened
Closed your eyes and not go to sleep?
Did you notice the Milky Way the first time in ages?
No artificial light, no electricity, no sound, not a peep.
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
And when it rained showered naked under the broken gutter
And thanked God for small mercies that no one was watchin’
Or didn’t care a damn if they were?
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers
Did you stand in line and at the grocery stores and banks?
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
And give God a huge vote of thanks?
I’m just an Editor of simple ieyenews
I’m not a real journalist at all
I can read and write but I’ve no qualifications
I was a QS and used to multiplications
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest of all is love.
(repeat)
And the greatest is love.
And the greatest is love.
