The Lions roar again
The Cayman Islands Lions of Tropical Gardens held their annual Change of Administration Dinner on Saturday June 23rd at The Hard Rock Cafe overlooking Hog Sty Bay.
Not only was the dinner sumptuous, but we also had a superb fireworks presentation outside, courtesy of the government, who had chosen the same evening to hold a celebration commemorating 60 years of The Cayman Islands Coat of Arms.
Kerry Nixon gave the Welcome, Cheryl Bell opening prayer, and the Lions Code of Ethics from Maxine Brava
Toasts were given by Elva Smith, Suzette Powery, Phillip Laing, and Donett Chung.
After this we had a presentation from the outgoing Lions Tropical Gardens President Donett Chung.
Then we all sat down for the delicious dinner with a host of choices. I had the steak and I can say it was one of the very best I have eaten at a restaurant for a long time. The service was quick, efficient and all served with a smile from the Hard Rock Cafe staff.
After the meals and liquid refreshments a new member was inducted by Ann Hunte, followed by the installation of the numerous board members by Lois Kellyman.
Almost last, but not least, was the main reason for us being there – the Acceptance Speech of incoming President Jasmine Minott.
Finally, there was a Vote of Thanks by Gina Barnes. Also, a Raffle. As I didn’t win anything that has passed me by without further comment.
I almost forgot to say The Lions did TWO loud ROARS!!!
