Reebok x Daniel Moon Reveal New Collaboration Inspired by the Power of Color

BOSTON, MASS. / June 18, 2021 – Today, Daniel Moon and Reebok announce and reveal their first collaboration: Major Reebok. The brands’ first collection together is inspired by the power of color with palettes that evoke Daniel’s signature hair art. The capsule features a bright, colorful twist on the Reebok Classic Leather Legacy and Club C Legacy silhouettes.

One of the most recognizable hair colorists in pop culture, Daniel Moon is seen as a true trend-maker and artist. His salon, Hair Los Angeles, is lauded for bringing unconventional hair color into mainstream style for all genders, and encouraging people of all genders, ages, and backgrounds to express their individuality through color, which aligns with Reebok’s vision and focus on equality and inclusivity. The brand’s commitment to fostering creativity and self-expression drew them to Daniel Moon who epitomizes the art of individuality.

Before his transition into hair coloring and product creation, Moon served in the Marine Corps where the uniformity fueled his desire for creativity. His nickname “Major Moon” references this experience, with the Major Reebok collaboration continuing Moon’s history of emboldening traditional ideals. “After my service, where hair was very standardized, I made a vow to practice complete self-expression,” Moon says when speaking about the collection. “I have my products like Major Moonshine, a hair glitter, and the Major Apron… I see the [Major Reebok] shoe as an armor that completes the colorful Major Moon wardrobe – head to toe.”

Daniel is famously known for his unique color processes that treat hair like a fine art; his creations are iconic and instantly recognizable. He is often brought in to collaborate with artists as they use hair color to illuminate where they are in their lives. With two of the most universally uplifting feelings being the excitement of a new hairstyle and a new pair of shoes, his goal was to combine both of these feelings into one capsule. Each Major Reebok silhouette incorporates vibrant colors, in the hopes of the wearer engaging in the same bright positivity and reactions that Moon’s signature hairstyles receive.

“The sock liner of the Classic Leather Legacy is a photograph of an actual hair piece that I worked on,” Moon explained. “It serves as a blueprint of the shoes.” Additionally, the Classic Leather Legacy’s ($90) color palette was inspired by Moon’s most popular and requested hair colors, while the heel’s leather material reminds the hair stylist of a shaved head.

The second silhouette, the Club C Legacy ($100), features a bright solar green and pink color palette. “These colors represent the same feeling of hyper freedom that my hair art brings to my clients,” describes Moon. “They instantly go in your bloodstream and change your mood to a new tier of exaggerated fun.” The transparent materials incorporated within the shoe were inspired by the Major Apron, Daniel Moon’s fashionable, functional apron used by hairdressers across the globe. Both the Club C Legacy and Classic Leather Legacy will also include one pair of fuzzy laces, inspired by Moon’s hair experience.

Major Reebok is the first of two collections between the brands and will be available to buy on Reebok.com starting June 24, ranging in unisex sizes US 3.5 – 15.
