Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal. Monday, November 11, 2019 — The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Open Campus and the Consular Corps of Jamaica will host a webinar entitled, “Europe under explored – the prospects for trade and investment with Jamaica in the 21^st Century” on Wednesday November 13, 2019 starting at 5:30 pm.

The webinar will be hosted at The UWI Regional Headquarters, Hermitage Road, Mona in the E. Nigel Harris Conference Room, and will be facilitated using Zoom for online participants to join the event. It will be carried live on the Open Campus Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/uwiopencampuscaribbean/.

The facilitators are three ambassadors from European countries who have expertise in the areas of international trade and investment. They are their Excellencies, Hugo Verbist, Ambassador of Belgium; Josep Maria Bosch Bessa, Ambassador of Spain; and Dr Bernd Von Munchow-Pohl, Ambassador of Germany. Also presenting are Mr. Pascal Carrére , Regional Economic Attache from the Embassy of France, Panama and Mr. Ricard Bardia Divins, Charge d’Affaires, Head of Delegation of the European Union, Jamaica.

The webinar will provide practical and operational expertise to participants and practitioners in the field of trade and investment; provide actionable information and guidance to persons involved in the business of exports; provide an academic context for the exploration of trade and investment opportunities with Europe. It will also add value to the relevant courses being studied by the students of International Business, International Relations, Law and other related faculties at The UWI.

Wednesday’s webinar is the first event in a series of planned collaboration between The UWI Open Campus and the Consular Corps of Jamaica. On July 23, 2019 the organizations signed an enterprise- wide Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
