The UWI Open Campus UWI STAT Ambassadors Installed Third Cohort of Executive Officers


he Third Cohort of Open Campus UWISTAT Ambassadors Executive 

Campus Officer, Alumni Relations. February 24, 2022 – The UWI Student Today Alumni Tomorrow (UWI STAT) recently held its installation ceremony for the new UWI STAT Executive Officers.  The nine dedicated and ambitious Ambassadors who are currently enrolled in Open Campus undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from eight countries across the region were installed as the third cohort of UWI STAT Ambassadors Executive. The Executive Members are:

  • Shazara Khan, Trinidad & Tobago President 
  • Annissa Moulon, Dominica Secretary
  • Shermel Hodge, Anguilla Vice President, Alumni Relations
  • Erica Clother, Anguilla Vice President, CARICOM Relations
  • Akimo Murray, Grenada Vice President, Communications and Internal 

                                                                        Relations

  • Beatrice Arnold-Geban, Anguilla Vice President, Disaster Mitigation and                  

                                                                     Climate Change

  • Mark Younge, Guyana Vice President, Finance                                    
  • Tamara Patten, Jamaica Vice President, Membership
  • Tyeisha Emmanuel, Anguilla Vice President, Programming and   

                                                                       Volunteerism

The installation of these Executive Officers was presided over by Mrs. Sandra Griffith-Carrington, Campus Officer for Alumni Relations through a well-scripted candle-lighting ceremony.  The script referred to the many hues of the rainbow, which were used to represent the different executive offices.  Each officer held a candle and made his/her commitment to serve.  

The UWI STAT Ambassadors are the Vice-Chancellor’s Student Representatives on all five UWI Campuses. This programme provides students with opportunities to integrate with fellow Caribbean and international students. It encourages the development of leadership skills and provides them with varied experiences to enhance their education and develop their leadership skills through involvement in campus, community, and alumni activities.

The main objectives of The UWI STAT Ambassadors Corps are to promote UWI, foster “Pelican Pride” and loyalty to Alma Mater, encourage Caribbean integration and the CARICOM Single Market and 

Economy (CSME), promote HIV/Aids prevention in the Caribbean and promote disaster mitigation and climate change resilience.

These Executives are poised and ready to serve the needs of the Open Campus students and the wider community.  The Executive pledged to serve and uphold the integrity of The University of the West Indies and the region, through service, excellence, commitment, and success.

The UWI STAT Ambassador Corps is a student organization with the mandate to provide service, leadership and support interests and traditions of The UWI, students and alumni through volunteerism, responsible citizenship and the promotion of Caribbean pride, culture and values.
