Chief Officer of the Ministry of Health, Ms Jennifer Ahearn, announces that effective 1 July 2013, the Director of the Department of Commerce and Investment has been appointed as her Designate for the Tobacco Registration in place of the Medical Officer of Health, Public Health Department of the Health Services Authority, as per the Tobacco Law, 2008.

This move is initiated in order to streamline the business licensing processes, allowing business operators to get both the business license and tobacco dealer registration in one location.

All collection of fees associated with the Tobacco Dealer Registration and processing of certificates will be handled by the Department of Commerce and Investment of the Ministry of Financial Services, Commerce and Environment.

The Medical Officer of Health will continue to provide guidance and support to the authorized officers under the law.
