Tourist dies swimming at Spotts
A tourist has died after getting into difficulties in the water off Spotts Public Beach.
The 58 year old man was taken to George Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Chief Inspector Richard Barrow said: “Shortly before 5:00pm on Sunday 19th February 2012 , police received a report that a male was unconscious and unresponsive on the water in the vicinity of Spotts Public Beach.
“The male was found floating on the water by a member of the public who was also at the beach. The member of the public entered the water and brought the male ashore, but found he was unconscious and unresponsive to CPR.
“Emergency Medical Services personnel attended the location and transported the male to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town, where death was pronounced.
“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing and further details will be made available in due course.”
