Traffic Advisory: Rolling Police Escort to Support Law Enforcement Torch Run 23 May

From 4:30PM today, Thursday, 23 May, representatives from various Cayman Islands law enforcement agencies will be taking part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which marks the opening ceremony of the 2024 Special Olympics.
Motorists are advised that the runners will be supported by a police escort and rolling road closure along the route, starting at the Smith Road Oval at 4:30PM, and concluding at the Lion’s Centre at 5:30PM, where the official opening ceremony will take place.
From the Oval, the runners will travel east along Smith Road and Crewe Road, to the intersection with Agnes Way, travel south along Agnes Way to the intersection with the Linford Pierson Highway, east along Linford Pierson to the King’s Roundabout, and south along Crewe Road to the Lion’s Centre.
Motorists are asked to exercise patience when travelling on these roads at this time and to be cautious when passing the group, which will consist of approximately 50 runners.
If motorists wish to avoid this area, alternate routes heading east include via South Sound Road.
