Tropical Atlantic Remains Quiet As Two Hurricanes Churn In The Eastern Pacific

Rob Lighbown of Crown Weather says:

The tropical Atlantic has absolutely nothing to keep an eye on this morning. On the weather map this morning, a frontal boundary is expected to continue sinking southward across the Mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States over the next couple of days. The tail ends of these fronts are pretty notorious for spinning up tropical systems, however, there are no signs that this will happen anytime soon as this front is actually expected to push back to the north towards New England by this coming weekend.

Meanwhile, in the eastern Pacific, we have two hurricanes that are tracking westward; Hurricanes Daniel and Emilia. Daniel is expected to weaken over the next several days as it encounters much cooler sea surface temperatures, very dry air and very strong shear. Emilia, however, is forecast to become a major hurricane as we get into Tuesday. Emilia is expected to track west-northwestward into the open Eastern Pacific and will be of no threat.

Now, back to the Atlantic: The long range forecast guidance is forecasting no tropical development for at least the next seven days. The European model guidance is forecasting the possibility of a low pressure system developing way out in the eastern Atlantic right around next Wednesday. This possibility will be watched as that time period gets closer.
