Tropical Storm Philippe steers clear of the Caribbean

Tropical Storm Philippe is affected by a western shear that causes it to stay away from the Caribbean. Philippe is forecasted to stay a Tropical Storm until at least the weekend, and expected to remain in the Atlantic.

The remnants of Ophelia seem to have 80% chance of reformation near the Virgin Islands. If Ophelia redevelops, then the forecasted path that she will take leads her away from the US East Coast, but either directly to or dangerously close to Bermuda.

Meanwhile, in the Caribbean there are still no new developing systems. However, many weather experts are still waiting for mid- to late-October for the western Caribbean area to experience prime weather conditions to aid the development of some major hurricanes late in the season.
