Two new recruits join ex government minister at Ogier

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFormer Minister for Tourism, Cline Glidden Jr, and former UDP member of the Legislative Assembly for twelve years, has joined a local law firm, Ogier Cayman as an articled clerk.

Ogier is expanding its articled clerk programme.

Joining Glidden is Nicosia Lawson, who completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2012 at the BPP University College, Holborn in the UK. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP University College, Waterloo, as well as two Bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa, Canada, one in Political Science and the other in Economics.

“Nicosia and Cline have achieved outstanding results in their academic pursuits as part of their legal training and also bring extensive career experience to this next phase of their legal education,” said Nick Rogers, Ogier Cayman Managing Partner. “Each has also made an outstanding contribution to our community and we are looking forward to having them complete their articles at Ogier Cayman as part of their entry into the legal profession.”

Ogier now has four articled clerks, with Lawson and Glidden joining Anna Cummings and Ridhiima Kapoor, and the firm has said it will be recruiting four more articled clerks to start in February 2014. Applications will be accepted starting next month.

Another Caymanian, Desiree Jacob, has also been recruited by the law firm as a new associate in its Investment Funds practice.

Jacob spent two years as an Associate at Appleby. She has several years’ experience in the investment funds industry, including with UBS, Deloitte, Citco, RBC and Fortis.  She also served for two years as a Senior Analyst in the Investment Funds Division of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Jacobs has an MBA and an MSc in International Finance, both from the International College of the Cayman Islands.

“We are delighted to have someone with Desiree’s depth and breadth of experience join our Investment Funds team,” said Rogers. “Our Investment Funds practice is already a market leading line of business for our firm and the addition of Ms Jacob will only reinforce the quality of service we offer to our global client base.”
