Man struck by SUV working in MH– George Town

A 22-year-old man is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle while he was working in a manhole in George Town this afternoon.

Shortly after 1.00pm the man was working in a manhole in South Church Street at the junction with Parsons Lane. At this time a woman drove a Suzuki Vitara from Parsons Lane onto South Church Street and struck the man. He was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital, George Town, suffering from multiple injuries and his condition is described as serious.

Two vehicle collision leaves one injured

At approximately 9:08am this morning December 6th 2013, police and emergency personnel’s attended the scene of a two vehicle collision on Discovery Drive road Lower Valley Shamrock Road Bodden Town.

Collision occurred when Chevy trailblazer was observed travelling at a high rate of speed heading towards east direction, on reaching the vicinity of  Discovery Drive entrance driver attempted to turn on to Discovery Drive when he lost control and collided with a Hyundai H10 that was at the entrance of Discovery Drive waiting to exit onto Shamrock road. The impact caused the Hyundai to be pushed in the bushes and male occupant trapped inside. The Fire Dept. attended and using the jaws of life cut the male from the vehicle. He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the trailblazer was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving at a speed.
