UK: We’re head over heels for our homes
From James Lockett ProperPR
Estate agent comparison site, GetAgent.co.uk, has found that when it comes to our homes, we’re not just in it for the money and one in five homeowners would even go as far as to say they’re completely in love with their own piece of the property market.
The research shows that: –
- 37% of homeowners surveyed by GetAgent said they loved their homes, a lot! With 18% admitting they are completely head over heels for it and just 5% stating they really weren’t that into it.
- 42% stated they plan to live in their current home for the foreseeable future, 29% plan to see out their days in their current home and 16% will spend the majority of their life with their current property partner.
- A quarter of homeowners would like their homes to be more energy efficient.
- 23% would also like a bigger home, while one in five would prefer it if their current home was a little better looking.
- 42% said they wouldn’t leave their current home even if a bigger, better or more modern home came into the picture.
- However, a third are ready to jump ship, with 27% undecided and battling with their head and heart over the decision.

We’re head over heels for our homes – but a third would ditch them for something bigger and better
Estate agent comparison site, GetAgent.co.uk, has found that when it comes to our homes, we’re not just in it for the money and one in five homeowners would even go as far as to say they’re completely in love with their own piece of the property market.
Valentine’s Day can be a bit of a bore for those that are unlucky in love, but GetAgent’s homeowner survey found that we can at least rely on our homes when it comes to a solid, long term relationship.
37% of homeowners surveyed by GetAgent said they loved their homes, a lot! With 18% admitting they are completely head over heels for it and just 5% stating they really weren’t that into it.
With such a high level of infatuation, it’s hardly surprising that the majority of us are in it for the long haul.
42% stated they plan to live in their current home for the foreseeable future, 29% plan to see out their days in their current home and 16% will spend the majority of their life with their current property partner.
Of course, there’s always room for improvement in any relationship and GetAgent found that a quarter of homeowners would like their home to be more energy efficient. 23% would also like a bigger home, while one in five would prefer it if their current home was a little better looking.
We’re a pretty faithful bunch as well. 42% said they wouldn’t leave their current home even if a bigger, better or more modern home came into the picture.
However, a third are ready to jump ship, with 27% undecided and battling with their head and heart over the decision.
Founder and CEO of GetAgent.co.uk, Colby Short, commented: “We’re barmy about our bricks and mortar in the UK and so it makes sense that having saved incredibly hard to climb the property ladder we have a fairly strong connection with our homes. Of course, we all would prefer something bigger, more efficient or in a nicer area as our next step up the ladder. However, the reality is that the majority of us are perfectly happy with what we have and that’s certainly something we can celebrate this Valentine’s Day.
