Update – Cayman: Man charged following collision with police vehicle

UPDATE- The man, age 43 of Bodden Town, who was arrested on Monday, 13 April in relation to the below incident, has been formally charged with DUI, Reckless and Negligent Act, Dangerous Driving, Driving Without Insurance, and Breach of Curfew.
He appeared in court on Thursday, 16 April, and was bailed with restrictions pending a further appearance.

Man Arrested Following Collision with Police Vehicle, 13 April
Earlier this evening, 13 April, an officer on vehicle patrol in the vicinity of Godfrey Nixon Way, George Town, had cause to stop and speak to members of the public. While the police vehicle was stationary, a person at the location got into a vehicle and drove it in a reckless manner, striking the police vehicle and then colliding with a building. The driver of the vehicle, a man age 43 of Bodden Town, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended and arrested on suspicion of several offenses including damage to property and DUI. The officer in the police vehicle was uninjured.
