Update: Cayman -Police Identify Victims of Fatal Collision

Police can now confirm the identity of the deceased victims in the fatal collision which took place on Monday 13 May along Shamrock Road in George Town. They are 41-year-old Shakara Stewart, 30-year-old Junior Whittaker and 53-year-old Vinroy ”Fletcher” Grant.
All three victims were Jamaican Nationals who were living and working in the Cayman Islands.
The RCIPS expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

At about 12:15AM today, 13 May, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a collision involving five vehicles, including a black Honda Accord, a white Toyota Tundra, and a black Honda Fit, which occurred on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Coral Bay Village.
Officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service attended the location and extinguished two vehicles, the Toyota Tundra and the Honda Fit, which had caught fire.
The three occupants of the Honda Fit were subsequently pronounced dead by the attending doctor. These victims have not yet been identified and police are appealing for information that may assist with the identification processes.
Two other persons were injured in the collision. They were transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance, for treatment for what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway has now been cleared and opened for public use.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Management Unit. Police have declared this a major incident involving the RCIPS, CIFS and HSA. Investigators are aware that numerous calls are being made to HSA and funeral homes ,and we ask that all enquires relating to possible victims are directed to the RCIPS Casualty Bureau at 1-345-649-4354, for this incident.
