US: 10 arrested in Triadwide drug bust

GREENSBORO — The State Bureau of Investigation arrested 10 people on drug and trafficking charges after searching suspects’ homes and vehicles Dec. 14 and 15 in Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem and Lexington.
“This investigation disrupted and dismantled a major drug trafficking organization,” said Scott Williams, special agent in charge of SBI’s Northern Piedmont District Office. “The operation demonstrated extraordinary cooperation among law enforcement agencies, which led to an unprecedented amount of heroin seized for the areas involved.”
Law enforcement confiscated eight kilos of cocaine, 11 kilos of heroin, 50 pounds of marijuana, $171,000 in cash, six guns, a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, a 2015 Rolls-Royce Wraith, and jewelry worth $426,000. Law enforcement agencies from around the Triad contributed to the six-month investigation.
Charged are:

- Jaquate Javon Simpson, 33, of Greensboro, charged with two counts of trafficking marijuana, two counts of trafficking cocaine, two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, and one count of conspiring to traffic opium or heroin;
- Penny Alesha McCrimmon, 35, of High Point, charged with one count of felony maintaining vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, two counts of trafficking in cocaine, two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, two counts of trafficking in marijuana, and one count of conspiring to traffic opium or heroin;

- Whitney Denise Ware, 31, of Greensboro, charged with one count of felony maintaining vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, and one count of trafficking in cocaine;

- Marcus “Boo” James Crouch, 36, of Greensboro, charged with one count of felony maintaining vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, one count of possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine, and one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute marijuana;

- Brian “B Tate” Denard Tate, 32, of Greensboro, charged with one count of felony maintaining vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, one count of trafficking in cocaine, and one count of selling/delivering cocaine;
- Joshua “Cap” Lamar Wallington, 28, of Greensboro, charged with one count of possession of a stolen firearm, one count of felony maintaining vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, and one count of trafficking in cocaine.

- L’Darron Dorsette Gary, 31, of Greensboro, charged with one count of possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce;
- Eric “Rick” Vincent Crawford, 58, of Greensboro, charged with one count of conspiring to traffic opium or heroin;
- Viviano Quinterio Valentin, 31, of Winston-Salem, charged with one count of conspiring to traffic in cocaine; and
- Adolfo Solano Medel, 28, of Winston-Salem, charged with one count of trafficking in cocaine.
Also, Jarvis Lee Powell, 35, of Greensboro was convicted of two counts of selling a Schedule II controlled substance, and one count of felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. Powell was sentenced Nov. 14 to a minimum of five years, 10 months to a maximum of seven years, nine months in prison.
