USA: Act Now: Arts & Culture Funding at Risk

Dear AACT Friends,

We are sharing this urgent advocacy alert from the American Alliance of Museumsbecause we believe it’s relevant to the entire cultural community… including theatres. Many of our members partner with libraries and museums to offer performances, workshops, and educational programs. Cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) could have wide-reaching effects.

We encourage you to take a few minutes today to call your U.S. Representative and ask them to support federal cultural funding.

What’s Happening?

According to the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), Representatives Dina Titus (D-NV-01) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR-01) are circulating a letter urging the Administration to reconsider an executive order that would significantly cut the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

The deadline for members of Congress to sign onto the letter is Friday, March 28… that’s tomorrow!

Calling your Representative today is the most effective action you can take.

WHAT TO SAY
AAM has created a draft phone script to make this easy. You can personalize it if you like, or simply read it as-is. The important thing is that your voice is heard.
WANT TO DO MORE?
You can also contact your Senators, state, or local representatives to urge them to speak up for IMLS. Templates are available via AAM’s website.
Thank You for Supporting the Arts & Culture Ecosystem
AACT believes that theatre, libraries, and museums are all part of the same creative ecosystem. Together, we provide access to culture, education, and community enrichment. Thank you for standing with us… and for taking action today.
