Lumberjacks take 2nd in Cayman Islands Classic

GEORGETOWN, Cayman Island — After a pair of impressive wins put them in the championship game, the SFA Lumberjacks were overmatched in dropping a 79-49 decision to Utah State in the final game of the Cayman Island Classic Tuesday.
Nana Antwi-Boasiako led SFA with 11 points and a pair of blocks while Sadaidriene Hall had nine[ points.
Jaxson Sheldon led Utah State with 19 points. He was joined in double digits by Great Osobor (14), Ian Martinez (13) and Latrell Joseph (11).
The Aggies started the game off hot as they went on an early 10-2 run. Hall closed the gap with his three-point play as SFA pulled within a 15-11 deficit with 11:52 remaining in the half.
Latrell Jossell found the bottom of the bucket as his three-point shot narrowed the ’Jacks deficit to 30-22. After the first 20 minutes, SFA trailed 32-26.
Antwi Boasiako was SFA’s leading scorer going into the half, shooting 3-for-4 with eight points.
SFA struggled on both sides of the ball through most of the second half as the Aggies got their lead up to 55-35 with 13:28 remaining.
The Lumberjacks’ woes continued through the rest of the second half as they only posted 23 points in the final 20 minutes.
Other SFA scorers were Jossell (8), A.J. Cajuste (6), Chrishawn Christmas and Juhlawnei Stone (4), Jalil Beaubrun (3) and Clayton Southwick (1).
Other Utah State scorers were Isaac Johnson and Karson Templin (8), Clayton Southwick (4) and Luke Stansbury (2).
SFA (4-2) returns to action after the Thanksgiving break when it hosts Tarleton State at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29.
