Walkers’ Cayman Trainee Committee is pleased to announce that two new articled clerks have commenced Walkers’ Articled Clerk Training Programme. Each will spend the next 18-months undergoing rigorous training, rotating through all of the firm’s key practice areas, on their journey to becoming qualified attorneys with Walkers.

Sarah Dombowsky and Christopher Dibben, who joined the firm on 19 October 2015, are both former Walkers scholarship recipients and have previously participated in the Walkers Legal Internship programme. Sarah and Christopher join Walkers four existing articled clerks: Renee Prendergast, Arleth Ebanks, Thea Maitland and Rebecca Peck taking Walkers’ total number of articled clerks to six. Four articled clerks, who commenced their training at Walkers last year, have also been admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar this year.

Walkers was the first firm in the Cayman Islands to develop a comprehensive Articled Clerk Training Programme and has been training Caymanians to work in the legal profession for the past 32 years. Since 2002, Walkers has trained 31 articled Clerks, all of who went on to be admitted attorneys.

Sarah Dombowsky was a recipient of the 2009 Walkers Legal Scholarship. Sarah completed her schooling at St Ignatius Catholic School in Grand Cayman and then undertook her LLB degree at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, graduating with First Class Honours in 2013. During the past academic year, Sarah completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP in London and was awarded a Distinction. Sarah has participated in four Legal Internships with the firm during the summers and completed placements in each of Litigation, Finance and Corporate, Funds and Trusts. Sarah’s first seat is in the Funds Group with Dorothy Scott Crumbley and she is articled to Caroline Heal.

Christopher Dibben was a recipient of the 2011 Walkers Legal Scholarship. Christopher attended St Ignatius Catholic School until Hurricane Ivan in 2004, after which he moved to the US and completed his schooling in Coral Springs, Florida. Christopher undertook his LLB degree at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, graduating with upper Second Class Honours in 2013. Christopher then completed the Legal Practice Course in 2014 at the University of Law (Bloomsbury) in London and was awarded a Distinction. Christopher has participated in three Legal Internships with the firm during the summers and completed placements in each of Funds, Finance and Corporate and Litigation. He has also previously worked in Global Legal Resources as a summer student. Christopher’s first seat is in the Trusts Group with Anthony Partridge and he is articled to Philip Paschalides.

“The process of identifying the brightest Caymanian candidates for our Articled Clerk Training Programme is extremely important to the firm,” commented Anthony Partridge, Senior Counsel with Walkers and Chairman of the firm’s Trainee Committee. “We look forward to seeing Sarah and Christopher completing their Articles and building a rewarding career with Walkers in the challenging field of law.”
