Watch “A Day in the Life of a Nurse” – National Nurses Week (May 6 – 12)
From University of Miami Health System
National Nurses Week couldn’t have come at a better time. At UHealth, it gives us a brief moment to honor our nurses, and nurses around the world, who serve patients with dedication, compassion, and exceptional professionalism. Today, more than ever, we celebrate their courage as they rise to face the unprecedented challenge of a global pandemic.
You’ll see a snapshot of this unwavering commitment in
A Day in the Life of a Nurse, a short video that highlights the challenges faced by one of our stellar UHealth nurses, Elijah Virgin, BSN, RN, PMD, who as the EMS Liaison of Emergency Services, ensures that patients and staff are protected and receiving the care they need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There is so much to being a nursing professional.Nurses guide a patient as they face a life-threatening illness, reassure a child going into surgery, help patients cope with extreme stress, and alleviate the suffering of those who are terminally ill.
That is why we celebrate National Nurses Week as part of the Year of the Nurse and Midwife in 2020, which ends on May 12, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing.
We thank each and every nurse, today and every day,for their tireless commitment to our well being. Nurses are caregivers, innovators, educators, researchers, and leaders, steering the profession towards excellence in patient care. We invite you to share a message of gratitude on your social networks in honor of a UHealth nurse.
Sincerely,
Maureen Fagan, M.H.A., D.N.P, FNP-BC, FAAN
