Watch Caribbean sports in Canada

SportsMax Launches CEEN-TV in Canada

Starting November 22, 2012, viewers of Caribbean descent living in Canada will be able to watch 100% Caribbean content on Rogers Cable via Caribbean Entertainment Network Television (CEEN TV).

CEEN TV, a SportsMax sister channel and subsidiary, will broadcast on a 24-hour basis with variety content from across the Caribbean including popular programming from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana as well as West Indies cricket. CEEN will be available free to all Rogers 2.25 million subscribers until February 28, 2013 on channel 684.

CEEN TV programming includes certain programming from SportsMax including live coverage of the West Indies in Bangladesh for the 2nd test, 5 ODIs & 1 T20 from November 22 to December 10, Manning Cup & Walker Cup finals double-header slated for Saturday November 24, and the DaCosta Cup Finals on Saturday December 1. In addition, CEEN will also broadcast “Rumble on JamRock”, which features Jamaica’s Nicholas “Axeman” Walters fighting for the WBA Featherweight Title Fight live from Kingston Jamaica on Saturday December 8 as well as the SportsMax Zone daily progamme featuring Simon Crosskill, Wavell Hinds and Alexis Nunes and the weekly High School Access which covers high school sports across the region.

Programming on CEEN will Now Canada can watch live news and sports programming such as CEEN Caribbean Nightly News; the daily CNC-3 Morning Show from Trinidad; the daily sports talk show, The SportsMax Zone; live and delayed Manning and DaCosta Cup matches from Jamaica; live coverage of Boys’ and Girls’ Champs and more!

CEEN will also air weekly popular programmes such as the Emmy award winning ‘Impact with Cliff Hughes’, the popular talk show, ‘The Susan Show’ as well as entertainment programming such as Jamaica’s #1 entertainment studio show, ‘On-Stage with Winford Williams’, music mix shows from Synergy-TV our of Trinidad and drama series such as Trinidad’s Westwood Park and Jamaica’s Royal Palm Estate.

CEEN’s expansion into Canada’s market comes just a year after its U.S. launch, which CEEN’s general manager, Chris Telfer has seen significant successes, “After a year of CEEN’s coverage on cablevision in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, CEEN has had a steady growth rate that exceeds market averages. The overall feedback has been positive with persons expressing satisfaction with mainly The SportsMax Zone, On Stage, Westwood Park and Royal Palm Estate,” he said. CEEN believes the partnership with Rogers will be a rewarding one for IMC and for the Caribbean’s exposure as well, “Rogers is the #1 cable TV operator in Canada, reaching some 2.4 million homes, with 90% penetration among the Caribbean community in Canada based on our survey findings, so we look forward to providing great entertainment from CEEN”.
